Award winning gay and queer visual artists from London, Berlin and further afield are coming to The Bureau of Silly Ideas in Brixton this September as part of an exhibition by exploring ‘Queer Hedonism’.

Taking place on Saturday the 30th of September, the pop-up exhibition invites visitors to “enter an ethereal yet evocative queer art showcase, exploring how the pursuit of pleasure and self-indulgence has played a significant role in shaping queer culture.

Exhibition Curator and artist, Elinor Henry says:

"We took the notion that the exploration of a queer persons feeling of ‘self’ starts in our most private space, the bedroom - and so too does this exhibition.

When you enter Brixton’s railway arches you’ll find a deconstructed bedroom, representing queer self-discovery of dreams, fantasies and exploration. You’ll feel a sense of being present in someones personal space and intimate-thoughts.

As you progress, you’ll pick up on the themes of what happens when Hedonism goes too far, reflecting on the ‘darker side’ of pure, unfettered self-indulgence."

The exhibition will include artists from RCA, CSM, UAL and Goldsmith’s as well as those who have grown through being self-taught. There will be a mixture of installation, photography, painting, sketches.

Tickets are available now through eventbrite starting at £5 and will include a a special program of talks and performances.
