Sucking Face is an anthology of queer and trans kisses, supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
Between these pages, queer and trans makers depict kisses long and soft, remembered and forgotten. They mould kisses that nearly happened, the ones that were only dreamt about, the ones that changed everything.
The work traverses paintings wet as a tongue, sculptures hard as teeth, photography as hot as the inside of a mouth. Short stories drip with yearning, poems are swollen with want. Kisses form around ghosts and guts, snails and butcher’s shops.
Read this when falling in love, when recovering from heartbreak, when you can’t stop thinking about someone, when you don’t want to. Read it under satin sheets, or between dances at the club. Make eyes over its pages.
